IMHO, the % reduction mods are pure crap. The -2/-2, -2/-3 shields are -/- on EVERY hit, not just one out of every 5.

There really isn't a place for a % chance of damage reduction mods in the game, it would have probably been better just to drop the mod from the game (and endure the bidding frenzies).

% chance can never match the effectiveness of the conditional damage reduction mods because it would then be overpowered, therefore it must always be weaker. Being weaker means that for almost every circumstance, the conditional ones are better.

You can get these sheilds anywhere. I found one in the desert while Queen farming. It wasn't bad, a Gold Round Sheild--Req. 9 tactics with 15% chance for -5. Sold it later in Lions Arch for some change and a good rod worth at least 15k.

Yup. Figured that out first thing when I saw it.

-5 every 5 hits. Over a 10 hits you reduced 10 dmg. While the -2 conditional reduced 20.

It is not a good mod to have.

Of course this IS percentages... So you could take full damage without the -5 even though it may be max with 20%, but also could have it lucky and have a constant -5 dmg side effect (hopefully this will never happen EVER). This is for those people who belive in luck and stuff. Wouldn't mind using it around just change to it for the fun of it. Can only try it out to be positive about it.

I prefer something that does -2/-2 or -2/-3 for the constant. Just too bad I can never get lucky enough to find one, and on top of that I'm too poor to buy one.

I like to swap builds every other day so I dunno. Depending on my purposes, would be going around the whole map doing random missions and quests with people.
I dont farm so w/e.

Thank you. I haven't gone shopping for shields in a long time and, well, I passed up on the while hexed versions.

Yeah, but sometimes all the other mods are useless so you don't have a choice. For example I've run a character with a Sundering bow before, because there was an Order in the build, I couldn't net energy out of Zealous, I didn't have Apply Poison on my bar, and I didn't want to carry around only Vampiric weapons. So Sundering it was.

Didn't make it any good.

Peace,
